Livia Crispolti was born in Rome in 1976, she studied with Marisa Bronzini in her workshop in Cantù – Como, with Graziella Guidotti at the Tessilstudio in Florence, at the Sapienza University in Rome, and at the Textile Museum in Washington DC in the Usa. She teaches Textile Culture end Textile design at the Brera Academy of the Fine Arts in Milan and Design of fashion, she taught at the Sapienza University of Rome, at the Istituto Europeo del Design IED and at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti NABA. She investigates the contaminating process that goes on between the visual arts and the textile culture, and operates in close contact with contemporary artists and the textile industries. Since 1996 she has been writing about the textile world, and is active both in the manufacturing as in the designing aspect, as in that of teaching. From 2007 to 2014 she has been the curator of Vetrine Ripetta 133 of the Crispolti Contemporary Art Archives of Rome, an exhibition space dealing with the Art of Textile and promoting the review The Art of thread. In 2016 she curated the exhibition Dialogues of thread at Palazzo Morando Costume Fashion Image in Milan.
Livia Crispolti è nata a Roma nel 1976, ha studiato con Marisa Bronzini nel suo laboratorio a Cantù – Como, con Graziella Guidotti al Tessilstudio di Firenze, all’Università La Sapienza di Roma e al Museo del Tessuto di Washington DC negli Usa. Insegna Cultura tessile e Design del tessuto all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano, ha insegnato all’Università La Sapienza di Roma, all’Istituto Europeo del Design IED e alla Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti NABA. Indaga il processo di contaminazione che avviene tra le arti visive e la cultura tessile, e opera a stretto contatto con artisti contemporanei e aziende tessili. Dal 1996 scrive di cultura tessile, ed è attiva sia nell’aspetto progettuale e produttivo, sia in quello didattico. Dal 2007 al 2014 è stata curatrice di Vetrine Ripetta 133 dell’Archivio Crispolti Arte Contemporanea di Roma, spazio espositivo che si occupa di Arte del Tessuto e ha curato la rassegna Arte del filo. Nel 2016 ha curato la mostra Dialoghi di filo presso Palazzo Morando Costume Fashion Image a Milano.
